FORMATPer usual, each team consists of an art director, photographer, and MUA. Teams also include some combination of the following: wardrobe stylist, lighting assist prop stylist, general assist, hair stylist, etc.
These primary team members stay the same throughout the day. However, each team works with two different groups of models who rotate to new teams at the midday point (usually 2-3 models per round). Concepts do not overlap.
LOCATIONUnlimited access to custom-built, private residence on 10,000 square foot lot across from Robert Gray Middle School + Hillsdale park.
INTERIORThe interior of the house will be completely empty with a ton of space for shooting. The main level has an open entry, vaulted living room with pink carpet, fireplace, kitchen, dining nook, huge upper deck, and master bed/bath. The lower level has three bedrooms, a big family room, and another bathroom.
EXTERIORThe exterior features a smaller front yard and huge backyard all with mature landscaping.
MIDDLE SCHOOLRobert Gray Middle School is directly across the street and has several ballfields, an outdoor basketball court, traditional track, and a playground. The school was built in 1952, so the exterior features midcentury architecture elements: single level, red, straight lines.
HILLSDALE PARKThe middle school bleeds into the Northern part of Hillsdale park which ranges from wooded to pastoral to open meadow. Most of the park consists of rolling or steep land. There are four general areas within the park: the offleash meadow in the north (nearest us), the wooded knoll in the center, the open slope and orchard in the east section and the lawn with mature trees in the southwest.
Suitcase Laundry is a women-only, blitzkrieg-style photoshoot event that focuses on the female gaze while prioritizing art over content and collaboration over competition.
The purpose of Suitcase Laundry is to carve a space for women photographers, art directors, lighting, HMUAs, stylists, models, post-production, etc. to engage in:* knowledge-sharing* portfolio-building* resource-sharing* collaboration* creating badass art
Suitcase Laundry rotates locations each month and is invite-only due to limited space and resources. Attendance is thoughtfully curated. We make every effort to include local creatives who are a good fit, paying special attention to inclusivity esp. WOC, and the LGBTQ community. Gender neutral folks are welcome.
